I have been a committed Christian for over 40 years.

I believe the essentials of the Gospel are simple:

God offers us love and grace, and only asks love and faith in return.

This is the Gospel.

John 3: 15
"that everyone who believes in him may have eternal life.
16 "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life."

Ephesians 2:4
"But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy,
5 made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions--it is by grace you have been saved."

Matthew 22:37
"Jesus replied: 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.'
38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.'
40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments."

Hebrews 11:6
And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists
and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.

See Apostles' creed

I also believe that God asks an adult baptism of each believer:

Galations 3:26
You are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus,
27 for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ.
28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.
Further details - see baptism

I also believe that God asks us to love our enemies - never go to war - no matter what.

Matthew 5:43
"You have heard that it was said, 'Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.'
44 But I tell you: Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you,
45 that you may be sons of your Father in heaven.
